My friend Meann called me up Thursday morning to ask about Smart’s latest scheme: sending a text message when a prepaid subscriber dials 1515 to make a balance inquiry makes him/her pay one peso for it.
I browsed the Smart website to confirm this and found out that it’s true. Starting May 1, 2003, Smart subscribers will be charged P1.00/balance inquiry beyond their free text allocation for every 1515 inquiry. Read this.
Tonyo of our group TXTPower said “Smart is cashing in on plain deception, confusion on Filipinos who are currently reeling from the effects of the US war on Iraq and the economic crisis. Sila lang naman ang tumatabo ng tubo.” Here’s TXTPower’s press release regarding this issue.
