“This is any commitment that Filipinos, from our forefathers to the present, hold sacred. A man’s honor goes with his word. Violate it and he loses not only his own honor, but also that of his family. Descendants honor the commitments and pay for the debts of their parents and grandparents to preserve family honor.”

The highest official of the land cannot spend months deliberating on a serious issue, formally announcing her decision, and later go back on her word! That?s the difference.

And if she gave us her vow not to run but with the intention of going back on her word later for tactical political reasons, then that?s even worse.

If many Filipinos aren?t bothered by this, something?s wrong with our culture.
