Pumanaw kaninang umaga si Maximo Soliven, chairman, publisher, at columnist ng Philippine Star, dahil sa kumplikasyon sa sakit na pneumonia.
Mahigit 50 taon siyang peryodista. Sa edad na 27, si Soliven ay publisher at editor na ng The Evening News, na namayagpag noong 1960s. Naging founding editor din siya ng Philippine Inquirer. Nang humiwalay sila nina Betty Go-Belmonte sa Inquirer, itinatag nila ang Philippine Star.
Nausap ko nang personal si Max Soliven noong incoming freshman ako sa UP. Isa siya sa mga naging judges na pumili sa aming lima nina Bing, Helen, John Ray, at isa pang taga-UP MassComm para maging scholar ng UP-Jardine Davies Scholarship program.

He used to be a social media manager for news at GMA Network, where he also headed YouScoop, GMA News and Public Affairs’ citizen journalism arm.
