Dahil sa enhanced community quarantine bunsod ng COVID-19 pandemic, patok na patok ngayon ang mga de lata o canned goods. Special mention sa Ligo Sardines — wagi na sa lasa, wagi pa sa paninindigan.
Matagal kasi ang shelf life ng mga de lata, saka matipid. ‘Yon nga lang, eat moderately lang. Mahirap nang atakihin ng gout.
Pero para sa iba nating mga kababayan, wala silang masyadong choice dahil mga de lata ang kadalasang nasa ng mga ayuda package ng gobyerno at private sector.
Anu’t anuman, may pakiusap ang animal rights organization na Philippine Animal Welfare Society (PAWS) sa mga kumakain ng de lata. Hiling nila, hugasan din ang mga lata bago itapon ang mga ito. Puwede kasing kalkalin ng mga aso ang mga lata sa basura.

Isang asong gala, si Lang — na ipinangalan sa millennial poet na si Lang Leave — ang nasa pangangalaga ngayon ng PAWS. Ayon sa animal rights organization, natagpuan ang babaeng aso na may lata ng tuna sa kaniyang bibig. Nasugatan ng lata ang dila ni Lang. Malalim at nagkaroon ng impeksiyon ang sugat ni Lang kaya nilinis ito nang todo ng mga beterinaryo ng PAWS. Pinainom din si Lang ng malakas na antibiotics.
Nagpapagaling na ngayon si Lang, ayon sa PAWS.
Nagpapasalamat din ang PAWS sa mga patuloy na tumutulong sa kanila. Dahil sa mga donasyon, napapanatili nilang ligtas ang mga hayop na nasa kanilang pangangalaga.
