Isa siyang maliwanag na pangalan sa kasaysayan ng peryodismo at pakikibaka sa ating bayan. Isinulong niya ang malaya at mapagpalayang pamamahayag. Tagapagtaguyod siya ng kalayaan at karapatang pantao. Sa Unibersidad ng Pilipinas, tinuruan at inaruga niya ang ilan sa mga pinagkakatitiwalaan at iginagalang na mamamahayag ngayon.
Pumanaw siya noong Mayo 15, at kagabi, inalala’t pinarangalan siya ng kanyang pamilya, mga dating estudyante at kaibigan, at ng mga tulad naming bagamat di siya nakilala nang personal, ay naniniwala at sumusunod sa kanyang mga adhikain.

Because of his inspiring work as guro, mamamahayag at aktibista, the University Student Council is planning to dedicate the coming Alternative Classroom Learning Experience to Dean Armando Malay.
We hope that this little contribution to the living body of work of the late Dean Malay will help spur the intensive critique of our traditional education.

dean malay also taught journalism at the college of arts and sciences. wala pa noong CAL at bago pa lamang ang institute of mass comunnication. sa CAS naging estudyante ni dean si joma, julie de lima, edel garcellano, luis teodoro, etc.
