Making New Year’s resolution is not really my kind of thing, but I decided to make some promises I must fulfill this year. I’m not telling you what these promises are, though.

2001 was an exciting year for me. It was full of fun and angst, filled with experiences, and was a mixture of sucesses and failures — like failed relationships.

It was a year when I became more proud and felt rewarded after all my self-styled and little efforts to get involved and concerned. I was damn proud I was in Mendiola with hundreds of thousands of other Filipinos — mostly youth–when Joseph Estrada was forced to leave Malacanang.

Also in 2001, I’ve proven once more that dreams come true: Tinig.com, once just an idea — a dream–is now a reality and is becoming more and more promising. Not only does it allow me to continue to continue writing and do advocacy online, it has also given me a new set of friends. (Just last Sunday, some of us, ka-Tinigs, as we call ourselves, watched The Lord of the Rings together).

It was also last year that I first experienced how it is to fly on a plane and watch the clouds from above. My first visit to Vigan and Cebu also took place in 2001 — and these trips were topped with great opportunities in my profession.

However, I think I did things in a extreme manner last year. As I got myself involved and busy on things concerning the world outside my little life, I did not think of leaving time and space for myself. And on concerns that allowed me to enjoy life, I enjoyed myself too much, without thinking of others. I should have improved my priorities last year.

Hopefully, I will again experience this year the fun and excitement and the fulfillment I had last year. This time, may I be able to really fix my priorities and run my life better than before.
